Sandpiper guarding her eggs (by dorameulman) I was stomping around Robinwood Lake when this sandpiper started screeching and flapping her wings at my feet. I knew she must have a nest somewhere but they’re difficult to see on the ground, no worries she let me see. Then she stood guard over her to make sure I didn’t put my foot in it. She was a brave little momma bird. She sensed I ment her no harm and let me take her photo, it was cool. I’ll have to go back soon and check up on her and her chicks.

Wisteria (by dorameulman) The deciduous vine Wisteria is a rampant grower all across North Carolina almost as much as Kudzu but far more beautiful. It covers trees and woods 70 feet in the air in various shades of purple and white and it’s a sight to behold this time of year.

Dogwood Delight…HFF (by dorameulman) These beautiful dogwood trees are at Robinwood Lake in Gastonia NC. I am more than a little obsessed with the trees and ecosystem at this lake since the the owner of the property Slone Robinson was killed in an accident last October. The future is now uncertain while his family decides who will manage this land. Lets enjoy while we still can.

Dogwood State Flower Of NC (by dorameulman) The Dogwood Tree deserves the accolades it receives from it’s admirers. I am obsessed with these Dogwoods at Robinwood Lake and I try to photograph them at various times during the year. They are one of the treasures of the Tarheel state and the Southern US. The Dogwood flower is the State Flower of North Carolina and truely it’s a beauty.
