Independence Day on Flickr.
Independence Day, commonly known as the Fourth of July, is a federal holiday in the United States commemorating the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776, declaring independence from the United Kingdom. Independence Day is commonly associated with fireworks, parades, barbecues, carnivals, fairs, picnics, concerts, baseball games, family reunions, and political speeches and ceremonies, in addition to various other public and private events celebrating the history, government, and traditions of the United States. Independence Day is the National Day of the United States. Wishing all my American friends a happy holiday. Don’t forget the sunscreen, it’s HOT. ^_^

Exotic Mimosa Tree on Flickr.
Having been introduced from Asia in the mid-1700s, the Mimosa tree also called silk tree (Albizia julibrissin), is beautiful and exotic. It has now made itself at home throughout North Carolina and the entire southeast and like all invasive non native trees it’s thriving at the expense of native trees. They are so dramatic and beautiful like this specimen at Robinwood Lake that it’s hard not to love them. ^_^

Summer evening at Robinwood Lake, Gastonia NC. It’s hot and humid with occasional short lived showers. Thunder rumbles in the distance but it’s calm without wind so it’s perfect.

A blue flower is a central symbol of inspiration. It stands for desire, love, and the metaphysical striving for the infinite and unreachable. It symbolizes hope and the beauty of things. ^_^
